Amarillo Travel Hockey Awards Announced

"Individual commitment to a group effort--that is what makes a team work, a company work, a society work, a civilization work." 

The Amarillo Hockey Association Travel Program had its best season yet. The Pee Wee Bulls won the Dallas Stars League Regular season championship, The Junior Varsity Big Texan Bulls won their second consecutive State Championship and the Varsity Bulls lost a heart breaker in the State Championship game, finishing their best season in program history.

On Thursday April 12th, the AHAI honored individuals for their commitment and dedication to their team’s success. Here is a list of the award winners for each age division:

Squirt Bulls (10-U)

Most Improved: EASTON ANDERSEN

Most Dedicated: CARTER ALLEN

Pee Wee Bulls (12-U)

Most Improved: ADDISON GAMBRELL

Most Dedicated: WESLEY BETZEN

Junior Varsity Bulls (16-U)

Most Improved: HUDSON FISHER

Most Dedicated: KATY ALLEN

Top Defenseman: TREVOR DOBBINS

Top Forward: MAX FARR

Coaches Award: BLAKE CHAMBERLIN

MVP: CADEN RAMOS

Varsity Bulls (18-U)

Freshman of the Year: SEAN JENSEN

Most Improved: BRITTON BROOKES

Most Dedicated: JAXEN ANDERSEN

Top Defenseman: JAXEN ANDERSEN

Top Forward: VINCENT PETREY

MVP: VINCENT PETREY

Coaches Award: LUKE RANDOL

Team of the Year: JUNIOR VARSITY BULLS

Volunteer of the Year: ERIC ANDERSEN

This was also the second season that the AHAI presented the Ronald G. Mahood – “Pride & Purpose” trophy for outstanding athletic ability, citizenship and academics. Three winners were selected from the following categories: Youth, High School and Junior (Amarillo Bulls). This year’s winners are:

Youth: MARCELLO TORTOREO

High School: VINCENT PETREY (2nd consecutive year)

Amarillo Bulls: MARCUS CHORNEY

“We are so proud of the accomplishments that our teams made this season. Our development model has been a primary focus for our program over the past four seasons. We are now experiencing success on the ice at each level”, says Program Director, Austin Sutter.

“The kids (players) have put in a tremendous effort and have bought in fully to what we are trying to accomplish here in Amarillo. It is incredible to witness them over the past four seasons and to see how far they have come”, Sutter explains.

Congratulations to all the teams and award winners this season. Travel registration for the 2018-19 season will begin at the end of June.
