The Amarillo Adult League playoffs concluded this week...

The Amarillo Adult league playoffs concluded last night. The ice will be covered until August and another great season is in the books.

This was the 3rd season for the Adult A division. This division is made up of former pro, college, junior and competitive recreational players. The league has grown each year, and participation is at an all time best. The league is made up of four teams that play in 20 regular season games. They compete in a two-round, best-of-three series in the playoffs for a chance to win the “Keg Cup”.

The Amarillo Wranglers are the 2018 A Division Champions. The Wranglers swept the Gorillas in the first round (best-of-3) series. The Wranglers moved on to the championship series versus the 3rd ranked Lone Stars. The Wranglers won the series in two games. Both games were very competitive and fast paced. This is the Wranglers second championship in three seasons.

This season marked the first ever B league division. The division is made up of players with five or less years’ experience playing hockey. The program is designed to serve as a grass-roots recreational adult hockey league, providing a supportive and encouraging environment to help foster a love for the game and develop the skills it takes to enjoy hockey at the recreational level.

The Gorillas B team defeated the Bulls B team last night to become the first Amarillo B league champions. The league is expected to grow next season, and only get better from here.

Thank you to all the players, captains, refs, score keepers and volunteers who made the 2017-18 adult hockey season the best one yet.
