The Bulls win over El Paso- Coronado with a clean sweep and move into 1st place in the NMIIHL

Amarillo, TX - The Big Texan Bulls hockey club extended their record to 7-1 on the season with a weekend sweep of the El Paso Coronado T-Birds.  The weekend marked the home opener for the Bulls at the Amarillo Civic Center, and the sweep put the Bulls into first place in the New Mexico High School League.

The Bulls outshot the T-Birds 99 to 30 in the two games, keeping constant pressure on the El Paso goalie.  The Bulls top line of Vincent Petrey, Chris Chamberlin and Aidan Wright led the way, scoring 8 of the team’s 13 goals and tallying 18 total points on the weekend.  “I was most proud of our team defense” said Bulls head coach Austin Sutter.  “Defensemen Jaxen Andersen, Burke Francis, Kameron Lewis, Brit Brookes and Trevor Dobbins had a great weekend.”

The Junior Varsity Bulls were just as impressive, winning by scores of 3-0 and 5-2.  Freshman forwards Andrew Kolka and Donnie Smith each had 3 goals over the 2 games, while Ayden Boyd and Sean Jensen each chipped in a goal.

The Bulls will travel to Albuquerque this weekend to take on their rivals, the 2nd place Cibola Cougars and the 3rd place La Cueva Bears.
